豪の山林火災で被害を受けた動物のため、編み物を提供する取り組みが行われる
オーストラリアで続く山林火災。これにより被害を受けた動物たちを救うために、新しい取り組みが行われている。
編み物をする人が手袋やポーチを作る
その取り組みのきっかけになったのが、ブリスベンに拠点を置く、動物保護団体「Animal Rescue Collective Craft Guild」がフェイスブックページに投稿した呼びかけだったという。
彼らは先日、カンガルーの赤ちゃんのためにポーチ(小さな袋)を、足に火傷を負ったコアラなどに手袋(手袋)やブランケット、手編みの巣(休む場所)、セーターなどを必要としていると投稿。さらに作り方などもシェアしたそうだ。

その後、フェイスブックページは、世界中の人々からの投稿で溢れ返り、支持するとの声が寄せられたとか。
そして現在、世界中の編み物をする人などが、傷ついたコアラやカンガルー、ワラビー、ウォンバットなどのために、手作りのポーチなどを作って寄付しているという。

また下の動画は、カンガルーの赤ちゃんの様子。これらの赤ちゃんは、親が山林火災で死んで、人間によって保護されたと考えられている。
絶滅のプロセスを加速させる
現在、山林火災によって10億匹以上の野生動物が命を落としたと言われており、シドニー大学の声明によれば、ニューサウスウェールズ州だけでも、8億匹の生物の命が奪われたという。
シドニー大学のChris Dickman教授は「このような出来事は、幅広い他の種の絶滅のプロセスを加速させることになるかもしれません」と述べている。(了)
